Yamaha YSP-2200 Digital Sound Projector Review

Yamaha YSP-2200

I love the effects of surround sound, but to be fair my small living room couldn’t really take the big five speaker and central sub-woofer systems that are out there, I simply don’t have the space and I don’t honestly think my four walls could handle the noise.

I’ve been looking for an alternative surround sound system for some time and while my main focus was naturally the sound quality, I was also in need of something smaller, more compact, and less cumbersome. Imagine my delight when I was pointed in the direction of this Yamaha Digital Sound Projector. There are other, less expensive sound bars on the market, but believing that you only get what you pay for when it comes to electronics and gadgets, I took the plunge and bought the YSP-2200 just over a month ago, and I adore it.

The bar itself is low enough that I can have it sitting on the TV stand directly in front of the television without it obstructing the view, and I have even managed to squeeze the sub-woofer on the bottom shelf of my TV stand, so it’s all very neat and tidy. I am more than suitably impressed.

Now, the sound; I have just one word for it; Amazing. It did take me a while to set the whole thing up and get the configurations right which was a bit of a pain, but once I had it up and running the projector really impressed and is still impressing me today. I have my Blu-Ray player set up through it and watching movies has not become a more thrilling experience when it comes to the sounds.

The Yamaha Digital Sound Projector is expensive, but for me it has been worth every penny. It’s neat, looks good in situ, and sounds fabulous.

Four out of five stars.
We liked
Remarkably clear sound. Very good surround effect. Looks fantastic.
We didn't like
Takes a lot of setting up, not for technophobes or novices.
