Verilux Happy Light SAD Light Box Review

Verilux Happy Light SAD Light Box

Before I got my Verilux Happylite Deluxe Sunshine Simulator, I thought it was just normal for someone like me to always be down in the doldrums. I never felt fully rested and my energy level was low, even after taking multi-vitamins. I had worked the midnight shift, from 11pm till 7pm for about 12 years, had to raise children and my sleeping, such as it was, had to occur during daylight hours. Of course, with kids running around, that sleep wasn't sufficient, because just as I would lie down, they would be up, demanding attention.

As the kids grew older and more self-sufficient, I was able to get a little more sleep, but still the majority was in the daytime. Today, most of my children are young adults and the youngest is in his upper teens. I no longer work outside the home, I spend time working online. However, because I had gotten used to sleeping during the day and up at night, somehow I still found myself up at 4 and 5am, working away in my home office. Still I was always tired and for the most part, lacking energy. Then someone told me about the happy light.

At first I was skeptical....a light that simulated sunshine and that would give you more energy and a sense of well-being? Yeah, right! Well this person...a lady that had worked with me for 7 of those 12 years, who also had raised kids and understood how I felt. I met up with her one day at a shopping mall and were just having a generic conversation, " how were the kids...the husbands?" etc. Then she started talking about how much better she was feeling these days after using the HappyLite sunshine simulator. HappyLite sunshine simulator! What in the world was that? She then went on to explain to me about people like us who don't get enough natural sunlight. She said that we usually felt tired and listless and had low levels of energy. Since that described me to a tee, I listened to her. Now she was still working at the job where we both had worked the midnight shift together, but me, being older decided to try to make my life a little easier, even though that didn't really work out too well.

She told me about some light contraption that was supposed to simulate natural sunlight and give you an energy boost. Still, I was skeptical. How in the world is a lamp, or any other device made by man going to simulate natural sunlight? How in the world could it possibly increase your energy, and why aren't more people talking about this contraption? I personally had never heard of it. She said since she had two, I could borrow one for about a week. After that, she assured me that I would like it so much that I would want to buy one of my own. Well, what did I have to lose? I agreed to try her happy light for one week.

She brought the Verilux HappyLite Deluxe Sunshine Simulator at my house on a Saturday morning. I used it that first night while sitting at my computer. I thought it was a rather odd looking lamp, more like some sort of screen with a glow coming from it. It was also looked a little large sitting on my desk, much wider than my normal desk lamp. However, right away I noticed that the glow coming from it was soothing. That's really the best way that I can describe it....soothing. Not really expecting much, I began my routine of typing my work on my computer. I kept glancing at that glow which was in my peripheral vision. I felt more soothed and relaxed as my fingers continued to fly across the keyboard. Normally around this time, I would start feeling kind of groggy.

However now, even though I felt soothed, I didn't feel groggy. I actually felt energized. Soothed...yet energized.

When I finally fell asleep for the night (or early morning), I woke up feeling better than I had in a long time. Still thinking it was just a fluke, I began to do research on the computer about this product. That's when I learned about a condition called Seasonal Affective Disorder, SAD. The HappyLite deluxe sunshine simulator uses blue light therapy to simulate the type of energy you get from the sun. Although I was usually tired year-round, I began to realize that in the winter months I did have even less energy than in the spring and summer. Through research, and the use of the HappyLight deluxe sunshine simulator, I learned a lot about myself that I didn't understand before. I was literally sunshine-deprived! That perpetual tiredness I had been experiencing for all those years was not normal, nor was it just a normal part of the aging process.

After using my friend's HappyLite for about three days, I ordered one for myself...and I couldn't have made a better choice. I asked her if I could continue to use hers until mine arrived, and she said that I could. After receiving my own HappyLite SAD light box in the mail, I couldn't wait to start using it! Actually, since I have been using it every day, I haven't been as groggy during the day, and I have actually started sleeping at an earlier time at night! When I awaken to the natural sunlight, I take the time to get out and really enjoy nature and all the beauty I had been missing for all those years. I guess I am going into my second is great!

If you are feeling groggy all day, especially in the colder months, or if you work at night, I would strongly advise you to purchase one of these products for yourself. The small investment is definitely worth your while when it comes to your health and well-being. Thanks to my my best friend, I have discovered that I can feel better and have more energy every day!
