Garmin Forerunner 205 Review

Garmin Forerunner 205

Garmin, one of the market leaders in wrist-mounted training devices, has come up with another great product and one of the best sports watches we've ever seen. The Garmin Forerunner 205 Wrist Worn GPS Personal Training Device is everything you could want from a wrist-mounted GPS and performance-monitoring appliance.

Whether you need a strict workout programme or you just want to compare speed times from week to week, the 205 will provide you with just about every option you could wish for. There are three levels of workouts: quick (just set distance and time, or distance and pace), interval (the same settings as the quick, but with the added advantage of being able to set repetitions and rests), and advanced (similar to the other two programmes, but gives you targets to set). So if you are a competitive athlete or just someone who likes to jog during the weekend, the 205 is the perfect training device for every level of proficiency.

The Garmin Forerunner 205’s USB connectivity works like a dream with the Garmin Training Centre software, which enables you to upload your chosen running course from your PC onto the training device. The 205 is also compatible with Garmin’s Motion based service.

Along with all the improved technology, the 205 has a radical new design. The curved casing means that the antenna faces the sky when in use, and the display is in exactly the right place for easy viewing. The display is smaller, but the resolution is so high that it has fantastic visual clarity. The 205 has a simple layout and is comfortable to wear.

The tracking device on the 205 is impressive, taking all terrains in its stride even though it is not sold as a GPS navigation unit. However, the mapping, marking and routing is excellent, and combined with the data displaying storing ability for training, it makes it one of the best on the market. Click now to stay ahead of the field with this excellent training device.

Four out of five stars.
We liked
Easy to use. Very accurate. Comfortable to wear.
We didn't like
Display can be hard to read. Prefer cloth straps to rubber (though that's personal choice).
